At Kenter Canyon Elementary School, we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to directly impact our children's experience at school and continuously make improvements to enrich their education. Most recently, through the vision and hard work of our parents, the Kenter community redesigned and renovated the Coyote Courtyard outside of the cafeteria. Through your generous donations, the Coyote Courtyard now provides a beautiful space for teaching, learning and enjoyment and is used by our children, the Kenter staff, and parents alike.
Our Kenter community would now like to focus our efforts on creating an Outdoor Classroom in the underutilized area above stairs in the South Yard as well as enhancing and refurbishing the South Yard. The Outdoor Classroom will be designed to enable outdoor learning (including a native plant garden), offer an onsite location for environmental science experiments and provide inspiration for creative writing. In addition, we plan to install Kenter's first Weather Station that will be used by all of our students to study the weather and climate. The South Yard update will include renovating the pavilion which the teachers use for PE and storing supplies and where we hold Coyote Corner every Tuesday and Friday. The South Yard seating areas, basketball and handball backboards as well as play areas will also receive a facelift.
The premier architecture firm of Marmol-Radzinger (www.marmol-radzinger.com) has once again signed on to design and reconfigure these areas and prepare all the necessary documents for the update and construction without ANY cost to Kenter or PSG. Similar to the changes made to the Coyote Courtyard, the Outdoor Classroom and South Yard facelift will truly become another enriched space for continued learning and enjoyment for our children.
At this year's Gala and Live Auction we raised money to make these plans a reality. We are however aware that not all of our Kenter community attended the Gala and we want as many members of our community to participate in this project. We will be thrilled with any monetary donation - no donation is too small, and every donation is appreciated. Please use the online Outdoor Classroom Donation form to donate.
