TECHNOLOGY
Chris Choe, “Mr. Chris”
Students display a sense of enthusiasm for technology-assisted instruction with a variety of projects and applications. Kenter Canyon School is delighted to provide a weekly computer lab experience with instructor Chris Choe for all learners.
For basic computer proficiency, the children will learn and use Microsoft Office, which includes Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. In grades K-1, they will learn to copy and paste, and type simple sight words. Basic keyboarding, animation, presentation, and computer painting are part of the program. We teach students the appropriate manner in which to manipulate the computer’s mouse by encouraging them to show their creative skills using MS Paint, which is our workhorse software for all grade levels. Younger students will be introduced to a variety of software that will help them prepare for more advanced work as their proficiency increases.
Grades 3-5 have software lessons that are geared towards school-wide projects with an emphasis on programming and game creation. The lessons include basic C programming for exploring functions and simple looping. Fourth and fifth grade will create game software in class for their "Buddies" in the lower grades using a 2D game engine. They will also continue lessons in animation, MS Office, HTML coding, typing, and imaging.
The Computer Lab offers an adventurous learning experience for students at all levels. We look forward to another exciting year with “Mr. Chris” as he shares his expertise with all students.
