Dear Kenter Canyon Families,

It is with much enthusiasm that we welcome you to Kenter Canyon website to learn or seek information about our school. Our focus as a school community is to improve student achievement and character building for all learners. We must ensure a positive learning environment that teaches children how to be safe, respectful, and responsible citizens, as well as thinkers, discoverers, and inquirers. The results of standardized test scores ranks Kenter as one of the highest performing schools within Los Angeles Unified School, and is recognized by the California Department of Education for its excellence and academic achievements.

Prospective Parent Tours

Kenter Canyon Elementary School holds monthly tours for prospective parents and students to introduce them to the school and its campus.  Please use the Tour Sign-Up form to RSVP for a tour on a date that's convenient for you.  Remember to use the iCal Export icon (jevents iCal) in the links below to register the event within your calendaring application.

Lottery Letter & Application for 2014-2015 School Year

Thank you for your interest in attending Kenter Canyon Elementary Charter School! Please read the attached letter with important timelines and guidelines carefully before submitting your application, which must be picked up at our main office. 

Applications cannot be mailed, faxed, or emailed.  They must be submitted in person at the school office.  You may contact us with any questions. 310-472-5918.

Kenter Canyon Elementary Charter School Grade K – 5 Public Random Drawing (Lottery) Application Information For 2014-2015 School Year

Thank you for your interest in attending Kenter Canyon Elementary Charter School. The following timelines and procedures are to be followed for all applicants.

  1. Enrollment applications must be picked up and returned in person. Applications are available beginning Monday, February 24, 2014. 
  2. Lottery applications are due by Friday, March 28, 2014 at noon/12:00 p.m. Applications will not be accepted after this time. 
  3. The public random drawing (lottery) will be conducted on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. in the Kenter Science Lab. A committee of three persons (administrator, classified, parent) will select the names from the drawing box by chance until all applications have been drawn. The classified employee shall record the names in the order drawn for each grade level. 
  4. You will be contacted if space becomes available to active your lottery application. Enrollment forms are not provided to participants until a seat is offered to your child. 
  5. Eligibility for the lottery is determined by the guidelines set forth by Kenter Canyon Charter petition approved by LAUSD Board of Education. Integration rations will be maintained in accordance with court mandates and LAUSD guidelines. 
  6. Students who reside in the attendance area of the elementary campus are eligible for enrollment without participating in the lottery. Enrollment packets for residential students will be available on April 21, 2014. Verification of birth (which is a birth certificate, not a hospital certificate) & proof of residence (which is a utility bill – but not a telephone or cable bill) are required. 
  7. New California legislation requires that a child be 5 years of age on or before September 2, 2014 to enroll in Kindergarten.

Learning Resources are supportive approaches to learning for children with learning differences. Examples of children that benefit from our program can include, advanced learners, children with specific learning disabilities that may include developmental delays, a language spoken at home other than English, or any other variation that calls for assessment, intervention or other individualized program development.
