Time for the MILLION WORD CHALLENGE! For the 7th consecutive year, Kenter is participating in this very important program to encourage students to read as much as possible. Read the attached letter to see how your child could earn a $50 gift card to purchase books. Also attached is a reading log and guidelines for selecting age-appropriate books. Click the READ MORE button below for more important info about the program.
- Only ONE student will be selected for their efforts towards the MWC goal on April 1.
- Reading logs will be turned into the library on April 1. Mr. Lewis and Mr. Oz will record their efforts up to that point and ONE student (may be from any grade level) will be selected and awarded a $50 gift card towards the purchase of books for their home (sponsored by Target and Families in Schools).
- The logs will be returned to enable students to continue their MWC efforts within each grade level at the school. On June 1, all logs are due to the Mr. Lewis or Mr. Oz. Students will be honored at our end-of-the-year Awards Assembly for participation and for reaching each grade level's highest level in the Challenge. Recipients will receive ribbons and/or certificates--depending on the level of achievement. The overall winner will receive a medal of achievement.
Thanks for helping us to promote reading during non-instructional time, and DON'T FORGET... "Read Across America" is March 2! Activities are currently being planned to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday and to promote a love for reading.
