STAR is a non-profit educational enrichment program at Kenter Canyon that provides before- and after-school care to students. STAR was created by experts to make public schools a one-stop place for each family. STAR classes and programs are designed to encourage kids to explore, grow, encounter the world, and expand their cultural base. STAR works together with superintendents, principals, teachers, parents, and community groups to create amazing enrichment opportunities for children and teenagers. There is something exciting for every child, every day!
LITTLE DIPPER PROGRAM (Pre-K)
Our Little Dipper Program focuses on social and academic kindergarten readiness skills. We use a theme-based curriculum and incorporate stories, art, music, dance, science exploration, and sports, as well as many other creative and fun enrichment classes. We are a fully licensed program.
Hours:
M - F: 8 a.m. - 1 p.m
M - F: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Sample Schedule:
8 - 9 a.m.: Center Time (helps build social skills - morning care)
9 - 9:30 a.m.: Circle Time
9:30 - 10 a.m.: Outdoor Activities
10 - 10:15 a.m.: Snack
10:15 - 10:45 a.m.: Art
10:45 - 11:15 a.m.: IQ-GO! Literacy
11:15 - 11:45 a.m.: Lunch
11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: Rest and Story Time
12:30 - 1 p.m.: STAR PE
1 p.m.: Dismissal
* Pre-K will include rotations through classes such as Little Picasso, Superstar Science, Literacy and Math Plus, Storytelling, Creative Cooking, Fitness Fun, Improvisation and Theater, and many others!
KINDER CARE PROGRAM
The STAR Kinder Care Program compliments the Kindergarten curriculum. STAR staff partner with the parents and school to provide enrichment classes designed to inspire imagination and critical thinking, build important life skills, develop good moral fiber, and encourage children to have fun while learning!
Hours:
M/W/F: Dismissal at 3 p.m.
M - F: Dismissal at 3 p.m.
Children are picked up from Kindergarten and escorted to the STAR classroom.
* Due to the popularity of our program, enrollment is managed on a first-come, first-served basis.
KIDS PLUS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
The STAR Kids Plus Program operates from dismissal until 6 p.m. The program is open to students in K - 5. STAR provides an afternoon experience that includes exciting rotations through 3 fantastic enrichment classes. Each afternoon features structured 45-minute classes including supervised Homework Club, Sports and Games, and 1 additional rotation through enrichment classes such as Superstar Science, Primarily Primates, Creative Cooking, Fine Art, Literacy and Math Plus, Theater, and many more! Participants may register for 2 to 5 days per week forthe Kids Plus Program.

STAR Soccer (Fall): Open to grades 2 - 5
Does your child have the skills to bring it on the field? STAR sports leagues are designed to encourage team spirit and inspire self confidence through practices and games with other STAR schools. Check with us for registration information.
STAR Basketball (Spring): Open to grades 2 - 5
