STAR is a non-profit educational enrichment program at Kenter Canyon which provides before-school care from 7:30 a.m. and after-school care until 6:00 p.m. STAR was created by experts to make public schools a one stop place for each family. STAR classes and programs are designed to encourage kids to explore, grow, encounter the world, and expand their cultural base. STAR works together with superintendents, principals, teachers, parents and community groups to create amazing enrichment opportunities for children and teenagers. There is something exciting for every child, every day!
Kinder Care Program
The STAR Kinder Care Program, designed specifically for Kindergartners at Kenter Canyon, compliments the Kindergarten curriculum. STAR staff partner with the parents and school to provide enrichment classes designed to inspire imaginative and critical thinking, build important life skills, develop good moral fiber, and encourage children to have fun while learning!
Kinder Care will include two rotations through classes such as: Little Picasso, Superstar Science, Literacy and Math Plus, Storytelling, Creative Cooking, Fitness Fun, Improvisation and Theater, and many more!
Hours:
AM STAR
M-W-F: 8:00am – 11:25am (No AM STAR on Tuesday) Children are escorted to Kindergarten at 11:25 after eating lunch in the STAR Room.
PM STAR
M-W-F: 11:15am-2:30pm T/TH: 11:15am-1:30pm Children are picked up from Kindergarten and escorted to STAR for lunch in the STAR Room. *Due to the popularity of our program, enrollment is based on a first come, first served policy.
Kids Plus After School Program
The STAR Kids Plus After school Program operates from dismissal until 6pm. The program is open to students in Kindergraten through Fifth grade. STAR provides an afternoon experience that includes exciting rotations through three fantastic enrichment classes. Each afternoon features structured forty five minute classes including supervised Homework Club, Sports and Games, and one additional rotation through enrichment classes such as Superstar Science, Capoiera (Brazilian Dancing), Primarily Primates, Creative Cooking, Fine Art, Literacy and Math Plus, Theater, and many more! Participants may register for two to five days a week of our Kids Plus Program.
Kindergarten Enrichment
STAR Kinder Enrichment classes have been a huge success at Kenter Canyon! Open to all Kenter Canyon Kindergartners, our 8-10 week STAR Enrichment classes are held on Tuesday’s from 11:30am to 12:30pm and 2:00pm to 3:00pm. Our classes have proven to be not only innovative and educational, but also convenient for Kenter Canyon Parents. Children are picked up from their Kindergarten classes immediately following dismissal, and are escorted by STAR staff to their enrichment class.
