GRADING SYSTEM

Mastery of grade level standards is expected at the end of the year; however, benchmarks are established at points during the year towards that mastery.   Your child’s first report card has been assessed in one of four categories towards that year’s end mastery.  A student who scores a “3” in a particular subject has been assessed as proficient with that particular subject.  This means the student has met the goals established by the grade level for this grading period.  A student who has earned a “4” has “consistently” worked at an advanced level in that particular subject.  A student who receives a “2” is “partially proficient” which means they require re-teaching on various concepts and have now quite attained the level of proficiency expected at this time of year.  A student who receives a “1” has demonstrated “no proficiency” in this subject matter and may be a candidate for retention.  Parents were notified during the fifth week of school if your child was at risk of receiving a “1” or “2”.

 “WE ARE THE WORLD” TICKETS

Kenter’s Fall Production is scheduled for Friday, November 30 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, December 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kenter Auditorium.  “We Are The World” is an original play written by Justin Kopplin and Marilyn Robotti.  Tickets for the production will be available for purchase on November 19 and November 21 at the picnic tables at the upper South Yard from 8:00 – 9:00a.m.  Additionally, tickets can be purchased on Tuesday and Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. in the Auditorium beginning November 20.  General admission tickets are $12 and VIP Reserved Seats are $25.   Even if your child is not in the play, it’s a worthy family outing for everyone.  The kids on stage, parent volunteers, and producers encourage all families to consider this as one of your weekend activities!

PARENT COMMITMENT

Kenter’s largest fundraiser is the Parent Commitment Campaign. Through parent contributions, Kenter students are afforded enrichment in Computers, Library, Art, Science, Physical Education, Music, Orchestra.  Students are exposed to a variety of cultural assemblies, field trips including marine life exploration and the week long grade 5 Science Camp.  Classrooms are provided instructional aides and our playgrounds are supervised by aides.  Kenter is a unique school because of the commitment made by its parents to afford such items that LAUSD can not provide.  Your continued support is greatly appreciated.  For more information about Parent Commitment Campaign, contact Chris Meledandri or Jody Botansky.  Their contact information is in the Kenter directory.
